 "only worked once" 2009-01-12
By Rion (Alameda, CA USA)
I have owned other Campbell-Hausfeld products that worked well, but this one was the exception. There does not appear to be any warranty, and even if there was one, it would not be worth the shipping charges to send it in for repair/replacement.

I used this thing once to inflate a basketball and it immediately blew a fuse. The unit does NOT indicate how much power it needs and I assumed that the standard 10 amp fuse on the cigarette lighter should be enough. Replaced fuse and then it worked on the basketball, but then a few months later it was blowing fuses again. I went to a 15-amp fuse, which did not blow, but the compressor would chug a couple of times and then stopped. Apparently its life was over! Now it's just an ugly paperweight!

"12-/volt cordless modification for motorcycle travel" 2008-07-07
By Steven A. Baxter
If your looking for a motorcycle pump for travel, this is a good one. Strip it all apart. Remove the plastic casing and trash it, pull out the guts, tape the start button to the motor, add alligator clips to end of wires, and you have a compact motorcycle travel pump just in case of a flat.

 "Great for Roadside emergencies" 2007-10-18
By Parkhost (Clay county, Tn)
One of those "true necessities" for anyone with a vehicle with inflatable tires. If you've ever been "20 miles from nowhere" or FURTHER and have had a flat tire I hope you had one of these. It just takes a few minutes to pump up the tire, find the leak, plug it using one of those cheap little plug kits available at just about any large merchandise store, finish inflating your tire and drive away. You don't even have to take your tire off of your car. I have one for each of my vehicles.

 "Loud and weak" 2009-07-12
By Adam Bartlett
Makes as much noise (or more) than some full sized compressors. As another review said, you'll probably want ear plugs if you need to let it run for longer than a couple minutes. The noise is really obnoxious. A compressor this small and weak should not make this much noise! It doesn't really put out much air either. Unless you're looking for something to put out a steady stream of low volume air, you'd be much better off buying a nice bicycle pump.

 "LOUD!!!" 2009-07-12
By Jonah N. Johnston
I bought this compressor after reading other reviews on it that said that it was quiet & another site said that this was supposed to be quiet. I was excited when I got it home and hooked it up, but then I turned it on and it was so loud that I had to leave the room, after 30 seconds I started getting a bad headache!!! I bought this for my computer repair company to blow out used computers so that I would not have to buy air in a can, but I can't use it for that without driving out my customers. This thing was so loud that it sounded like there was a broken piston rod, I was sure that was what the problem was, but it filled with air so that can't be it. I went to Menards and found them selling the same set and asked them to plug in their floor model and it was really loud also, though not as loud as mine. I wish that I had never bought this wimpy, piece of junk!!!

 "Will not purchase again" 2009-07-05
By J. Zolnowski (Buffalo, NY)
My wife bought this for me for Christmas a year and a half ago. I used it to inflate car tires a few times a year. A few months ago the pressure would not build past 42lbs. After some troubleshooting I replaced the safety valve for about 24.00 (Sears Parts Store). Still would not build. I ended up taking apart the piston assembly, it looked fine no burnt or scratched valve no bad piston ring. Re-assembled and it was fixed! 100lbs psi again. Two days later down to 25lbs. This thing is loud and after taking this apart I can see why its cheap. The only replacement for the piston I can find is the whole motor/piston assembly which is probably more than a new compressor. Look elsewhere for a better quality unit.

"Absolute Crap (Is there anything less than one star?)" 2009-06-21
By Jeffrey L. Cunningham (St Pete, FL)
Horrible, horrible, horrible. I owned one of these units for about 9 months and used it sparingly. It is now dead. Dead! After using it maybe a dozen time, the compressor died.

I used it for bike tires only because it did not have the power to fill up a car tire. It takes about 5 minutes to fill up the tank and generates enough air to only fill up one bike tire and maybe a little bit of a second one. You'd be better off to save your money and use your mouth.

"I'm Here To -Pump- You Up!" 2009-06-08
By QuantumJoe83 (Charleston, SC United States)
I purchased the Campbell Hausfeld FP2028 1-Gallon Oil-Free Pancake Air Compressor to use with an 18 gauge brad nailer. The tank fills within a few minutes to 100 PSI, and while the compressor is loud while it is filling, I have used many other compressor that are louder.

The compressor is compact & lightweight. It also has a convenient handle. Because it is so lightweight, it can tip on its side if you are not careful.

I would suggest purchasing a better hose if you are going to use this with a nail gun. It comes with a short pigtail hose, which does not lend itself to easy use with a gun.

Overall, this compressor is an affordable alternative that is adequate for brad nailers, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable air compressor.

 "Never travel without it." 2009-06-28
By AZ Desert Rat
My previous inflator, another brand, which I had for 10 years finally bit the bullet. I ordered this and love the way it shuts itself off when the proper tire pressure is reached. At first I thought it was broken but I had the dial set improperly, it works great. I would never travel without one of these. Makes it easy to keep your tire pressure set without hunting down a service station that has a working tire inflator.

After 10 years, my basic Campbell Hausfeld Inflator gave up the ghost.

That unit fixed many bike tires, filled up numberous slow leaks in our Vehicle tires letting us get to a tire repair station and not have to put on the spare tire. The new unit RP3200 is the same basic model in that it plugs into the cigarette lighter. After all, how many times is BOTH your car battery and tire in need of service at the same. Larry "O"

 "Defective unit" 2009-01-21

 "It does the job!" 2008-09-30
By Harvey Spector (NYC)
The RP3200 inflates the tire, the automatic feature operates as advertised and the device is easy to operate.

At the same time, these observations should be noted:

The vibration that occurs when it is operating is such that the device must be held down or it will jump around.

The inflation valve goes on easily, but some force is required to remove it. In the process, some air escapes from the tire.

The inflation hose and the power cable must be folded carefully in order to store them in the compartment provided on the back of the RP3200.

I would recommend this product.

 "Inferior compressor" 2009-07-16
By K. Presnell (Austin, TX)
This is not a good quality compressor. I expect more from CH. The air feeder lines from piston are car fuel lines and not air hoses. The two feeder hosed rub against each other (due to poor design) because of vibration and will wear a hole in each other. I have had this compressor for 1 year and 2 months, used it 5 times and now the hoses have worn through and air leaks out. What a piece of crap. I spent 3 hours fixing this, cutting away crappy fittings, reinstalling air hose and clamping off. Do not buy this.

 "For my purposes" 2009-04-24
By D. Halbach (Leawood, KS, United States)
this has worked well. Use it around the house with my Ridgid brad nailer, haven't tried the included nailer. It's light, easy to carry around, even for those small jobs where you don't want to carry much. No problems. Loudness is in the ear of the beholder but I certainly don't expect quiet from a compressor so would say this is average in that regard. [...] So far so good would be my evaluation.

"It works, but I don't like this compressor." 2009-03-25
By Lucas Scharf
I purchased this air compressor at a local big box store. I'm a homeowner and a woodworker, so I use this air compressor a couple of times a week. I'm not satisfied with it.

Here are the issues I encountered:

* The box implied that it could deliver 90 PSI. It can, but the unit it really designed to keep the pressure between 80PSI and 100PSI. When the pressure goes down to 80PSI, the motor starts and pumps the tank back up to 100PSI.

* I discovered after purchasing this unit that I like my bike tires at 100PSI so, after inflating each bike tire, I have to let air out of the compressor so that the compressor will run back up to 100PSI before inflating the next tire. Since I ride a bicycle regularly, this is not the air compressor for me.

* The brad-nailer / stapler included with this unit failed after 2-3 clips. My guess is that it was a problem in the safety mechanism, but I didn't investigate too deeply. Also, the easiest way to adjust the depth that the staples go to is to adjust the pressure regulator on the air compressor, and depth varies depending on the state of the compressor. I've been much happier with the Ridgid stapler that replaced it, since the Ridgid stapler drives the staples to a consistent depth, regardless of small variations in the air pressure (the included stapler isn't terribly consistent about the depth to which it drives staples).

* This compressor is really noisy. The little pump runs fast with a small cylinder, and it makes enough of a racket that I either put in earplugs before starting the compressor -- or plug it in and run to another part of the house while it pressurizes itself. It's almost as noisy as my table saw, and it takes its time coming up to pressure -- especially if you empty out the pressure-tank before storing it.

* It's easy to tip over, especially when inflating car tires.

That said, this device does work. It's also light enough to carry around easily with one hand. We built 40 feet of garden fence out of 1x2's using the Ridgid stapler this weekend, which means that we drove around 750 1-1/4" staples into cedar -- and this unit powered the whole thing, and it was able to keep up if we didn't staple continuously. I've also used it to run other small air tools, inflate car tires, and the other jobs that you'd expect to do with a small portable air-compressor around the house. But this unit drives me crazy with it's slow/noisy performance, and the quick breakage of the nailer/stapler makes me skeptical about its long-term reliability -- so I plan to replace it with more powerful compressor at the first opportunity.

"Eh, it's OK, but I returned it." 2009-01-31
By DJA (Pittsburgh, PA USA)
This thing is VERY loud if you're using it indoors and it takes FOREVER for the initial fill. The hose is cheap and the nailer/stapler jammed three times during the first use. I had to remove the faceplate to clear the last nail jam. On the plus side it is very light and portable. This will eventually compress two gallons of air and drive small nails and staples much of the time. It may also give you hearing damage. Since I didn't want the nailer and the noise was painful, back it went. I'm going to try another small unit from a different manufacturer.

"Great compressor for small jobs" 2009-01-19
By Andrew Barber (New England)
I bought this compressor so I could do trim work around the house without trying to route a hose from my 33 gallon compressor in the basement. This is a *light* duty compressor. As long as you don't expect more, you should be happy with it. The nailer worked fine for me, although I needed to some nailing with longer nails. I hooked up my porter-cable finish nailer and it worked fine. I don't get a lot of shots out that nailer before the compressor kicks on, but I didn't find the wait for the compressor to charge back up to be bothersome.

I haven't tried anything so far except my two nailers. The small size and weight is great for small jobs around the house (like putting up trim). My unit seems to be free from defects. Make sure you tighten the coupling in the nail gun, my was loose and leaky when I got it.

"Great price for just what I wanted." 2009-05-31
By Mark Unterberg (San Diego, CA United States)
I don't know if the reviewers who complained about the noise have ever used an air compressor before but this one is not that loud at all! Also, oilless compressors always take a little more time to pump up a full charge. And I don't know how one could expect a 2 gallon tank to provide any type of continuous airflow for cleaning, spraying etc. I am a professional woodworker and this lightweight little guy is so perfect for pick-up air nailing work or where a small trim job is needed and I don't want to lug around even a pancake unit. This is a fantastic machine for small nail jobs and inflating things so I don't know what others are expecting. Also, I bought mine brand new on sale from Ha**** Fr***** for $55.00! But even Amazon's price is well worth it. My only tiny complaint is that I wish the max pressure was 120 instead of 100.

 "Nice little compressor" 2009-05-24
By R. M. Verlander (Seattle)
Yeah, it's a little noisy, but less noisy than other compressors that I've used - including the little 12v that I throw in the car trunk. Once the 2 gallon tank is charged the motor turns off and only turned on sporadically while I used it on a nail gun to put back molding after painting a room. The tank isn't big enough to do any big jobs, but it's small enough that the package easily fits on a small shelf space in the garage.

"Small and Light, but LOUD and Slow" 2009-01-25
By pgr-fw (Fort Wayne, IN)
I'm in the market for a small and light air compressor. I don't like having to drag my big compressor around just to drive a couple of nails. This one IS small and light. It's also unbelievably loud, louder than my big (also oilless) compressor that I previously thought was intolerably loud. It's also very slow to fill the tank. If I only had to listen to all that noise for a few seconds I might be able to tolerate it, but this thing takes several minutes to charge up.

I give it two stars, but that might be generous. If all you want to do is pump up a bike tire, get a hand pump. It will be faster, and you won't go deaf in the process. A car tire would be a closer call, but I'd still bet on the hand pump getting the job done sooner. You certainly don't want it in your house. I'm hard pressed to figure out what value it has, but it's conceivable that someone might figure one out.

I returned mine, so I'm still in the market for a small and light air compressor. Now I'm more particular about checking out the noise before buying.

 "Disappointing customer service" 2009-07-01
By Elflover (Faerland)
I bought this power washer to wash my siding in preparation for painting. When it arrived, it was missing the detergent bottle (which is the reason I bought it, for the onboard detergent which some power washers don't have.) I called customer service and waited for 35 minutes on the line, until someone came on. They said they'd send one out to me, and that it would arrive within 5-7 days.

It is now eight days, and it hasn't arrived. I called customer service again, and gave up after 30 minutes on hold. I'm thinking of returning this before the bottle arrives. Meanwhile, it's getting hotter and painting will be a nightmare in July. All in all, a very disappointing experience.

True, I read the reviews here first before buying. I've only used it a couple times but it does a fine job. I didn't want something too strong, just good enough to clean my wood deck w/out peeling off the paint. It did a fine job cleaning the sandstone around my pool too. It's not too big, easy to set up, works fine even with low pressure. Time will tell how durable it is.

"Poor quality, worse service. Stay away from this one" 2009-06-16
By Jerry H. Greenhoot (Charlotte, NC)
I bought this unit on the basis of good recommendations at Amazon's website. I used it twice and it's broken. The interior parts are plastic...only bonded together, and the bond broke in the "gun" which renders the device useless. I cannot get to anyone at the company. On disassembly to see if I could fix it, I find the parts to be flimsy, they're fit together poorly, and really should not be expected to last long, given the shoddy manufacture. I went to their website for a local Service Center, hoping to get the part to fix it myself. Their "service center" guy said "what do you expect?" and and recommended that I not bother.

Stay away from this unit. Maybe from this company.
