 "Rick" 2009-07-31

I needed a small compressor for filling up lawn mower, bike, trailer & car tires & blowing off a mower deck or work bench. That's all I got this for & this compressor does a great job for me. If you are buying it for bigger jobs such as running air tools, I can't really comment on that applacation. But I'm happy with this little compressor for what I use it for.

"Good cheap compressor 4 stars, UPS no stars" 2009-02-04
By S. A. Dorsey
It is a cheap compressor for light home use. Looks like good value for little cost. It works well. The true test will be for how long. UPS on the other hand sucks. The compressor was delivered with a cracked metal pump head. The packaging seemed adequate. The box was broke open and looked like it was dropped kick off a moving truck. Amazon shipped another one and UPS picked up the first one. The second one has a dent in the end of the tank. It works and after all the hassle I will keep it. Bottom line do not order anything with UPS you can not throw out of a second story window.

 "Missing hose" 2008-09-21

Assembly was OK but you do have to be somewhat technical. The instruction manual was not easy to read. My biggest complain is the missing hose. I have to figure out what size hose and fitting I need and spend $20 to get it.

 "Not bad at all!" 2008-08-20
By John P. Gerardi Dundee (Dundee, Illinois USA)
After reading so many reviews of shipping damage, I was skeptical...The compressor was shipped in the Campbell box with a shipping label placed on it and the box was somewhat smashed on the bottom, though there was no damage to the unit...After some simple assembly, and running the unit for 30 mins to break in the motor, I must say I like this compressor very much...I added a filter and quick connects for air tools due to the amount of moisture I can see exiting when using a blow gun...The tank does lose pressure somewhat quickly using an air hammer, cut-off tool, and die grinder, but it recovers fast if you stop using the tool momentarily...Which is a pain sometimes, but it does get the job done...If you seek constant air flow without pressure drop, than this compressor is not for you...My only other concern is that the unit sits on an angle and the level of oil for the compressor may not read correctly...The manual does not refer to this issue, so I added a little extra oil to be safe...just not over the maximum fill line.

 "Works for me." 2008-02-21

After intense research I compared this unit with the Makita Mac 2400 as well as pancake compressors by Bostitch and Hitachi.

Good points:

- portable with wheels (MAC 2400 same weight, 77 lbs, with no wheels, ouch that is heavy, I tried to pick up the MAC in the store)

- larger air tank than pancake units, and almost as portable.

- good air flow rating (better than pancake units)

- inexpensive

- oil lubed (should last longer than non-oiled units)

- regulator works well but not as good as the $300+ models

Bad Points:

- this unit will not work well with air hungry tools like an impact wrench. Not enough air flow. I had to wait for the unit to pump up.

- the unit pumps to 125 PSI and then, when using tool and draining tank, will repump again at 85 PSI. When I was using an impact wrench it needed at least 100 PSI to get enough air flow. This slowed me down but I could finish the job.

- no quick connector on compressor output (but easy to fix this)

- I was worried about shipping damage (as noted in many other reviews) so I bought this unit locally.

- The tank is smaller than I would like but I wanted a portable unit. If you have the space, and money, I would get a larger tank unit.

- This baby is loud. If I were in the same room with this unit while I was working for any length of time, I would be wearing ear protection.

I Still gave the unit 5 stars because it suits my needs. It will be used mostly for air nailing and only occasionaly for other air hungry tools like impact wrench ect. I plan to use it outside while nailing, or in another room, or at the other side of the garage, not in an in-home workshop, so the noise is not a huge issue for me. The main selling points for me is that the low cost, small size, portability and larger air flow outweigh the disadvantages. I can use other tools, not just the nailers and the unit is small enough to be portable. With pancake units nailing is all you can do (low airflow).
